The AIT3 data cartridge continues to use Advanced Metal Evaporated Tape, which has been a key enabling technology for high reliability and performance R-MIC (Remote Memory In Cassette): The AIT3 cartridge employs the newly developed 64kbit R-MIC system, which enables faster and easier access to a designated data. Compatibility: The AIT3 drive is backward read/write compatible with AIT1 and AIT2 cartridges, except for AIT2 WORM cartridges. The AIT3 cartridge is read/written only on the AIT3 drive.
